Good news feels so good

"No matter what, we will still wake up on July 8th." 

This was Jonathan and I's mantra walking into my scheduled CT Scan that was yesterday, July 7th. This time in 2023, this was my equivalent scan of a recurrence.  8.5 months post HIPEC. 

And by God's kindness the scan was CLEAN.

My tumor markers were normal. It feels both unbelievable, and also just so relieving. Our thankfulness feels sobered, quiet, and even tearful, as we walk a life we never would have suspected.

We feel so so thankful, as we anticipated we might be talking about treatment, trips to Texas, and next steps. It's a privilege to live in the mundane and talk about Maddie, biking, work, and funny youtube videos. 

A simple update, really. What a gift that is. And I'll leave you with two things: 

1. pics from the 4th , where we ran the Peachtree Road Race 10k, pooled it up with Kathleen & Charles, and got to host some dear friends over the weekend. 

   
   

2. Encouragement through this sermon, by our friend Justin Clement, on lament. The truths that seep through hit my soul as we both rejoice and grapple with life's hardships. (Isn't it always both!?) 

   
   

   A favorite few lines

   "Jesus would go through the sea of God's judgment at Gethsemane... This is why we can be assured that God's steadfast love will never ever stop... he defeated all our true enemies of death and the devil and sin and flesh and weakness and frailty." 

    

   "God's way is always through the sea (Psalm 77) , and the cross is the proof that we can trust him today. We can endure the dark nights of the soul knowing our God and our Father is our Shepherd"

   
   

   "Every tear, every wave, every delay. None of it is wasted. It is all a part of his mosaic of redemption."
